Live Reporting
In Summary
Usain Bolt's Jamaica win men's 4x100m final
GB lose bronze for illegal changeover
Bolt takes 3rd gold in Moscow and 8th in all
GB fourth in women's 4x100m - Jamaica win
GB appealed over USA's second changeover
Reporting by
Saj Chowdhury, BBC Sport

GB discus thrower Dan Greaves: Uh oh. Just got in - DQ for the GB boys. Harsh but fair. A hard lesson to learn, again.

1622:

Yes a bit of a dampner, but, you know, I reckon it was still a good championships for GB.

Mo Farah doing the double-double, captain Christine Ohuruogu winning the 400m on the line and then a bronze in the 4x400m, Tiffany Porter finally winning a major medal, Adam Gemili's 19.98, Dwain Chambers' bowler hat...

 GET INVOLVED
Alex Winter: Another relay, another British disqualification. Utterly pathetic. An absolute complete disgrace and embarrassment.

Tom Baker: And lo and behold, they are DQ'd. Take that bowler hat off please Dwain.

1614:

British Athletics chief Neil Black reacting to the disqualification news on BBC One: "That is pretty gutting, but that's the sport."

1611:
 GB 4x100m TEAM DISQUALIFIED
Sorry GB fans. After finishing third, walking around draped in the Union Flag, then giving BBC's Phil Jones trackside interviews, we have just learnt that the team have lost their bronze medal after their race was reviewed.

So that's five medals for GB at these championships. The GB 4x100m women's appeal was rejected. They finished fourth in their final.

1610:
 MEN'S 200m MEDAL CEREMONY
Jamaica's sprint sensation Usain Bolt is set to receive his second gold of the championships - he'll receive his third, and eighth in total, in a bit.

1608:

GB 4x100m bronze medallist Adam Gemili on BBC One: "I tried to give it every little bit of energy I had. I knew us guys have the speed and the ability when we get it right."

1608:

GB 4x100m bronze medallist James Ellington on BBC One: "I thought it had gone wrong, but I was disciplined and slowed down and we got it right. We've got the changeovers down to a tee now. I'm over the moon."

1608:

GB 4x100m bronze medallist Dwain Chambers on BBC One: "We all deserve it. It's been a long time coming, and it's been a great championships. We all ran to the best of our ability and this is the reward for that."

1607:

1603:
 GB 4x100m UPDATE
There is a review into GB's 4x100m display in the final. They currently hold bronze spot.

Aimee Lewis, BBC Sport in Moscow
"Teddy Tamgho is weaving his way through the throng of journalists who are waiting for a word with the French triple jumper but his progress is brought to a brief halt as Mr Jonathan Edwards is waiting for the Frenchman and Edwards, the former Olympic and world champion, wants a hug. I'm not sure Edwards's main intention was to ask Teddy for a hug, but the pair embrace and exchange pleasantries. I think I heard Jonathan Edwards mouth 'the world record is still mine - it's all mine. Pnaaaar'."

 GET INVOLVED
Jane Wilson: Has nobody notice Gatlin out of his lane on the last leg?

Marcus Bird: Why is everyone focusing on GB? Gatlin stepped into Bolt's lane at his changeover!

Richard Jones: USA ran out of lane at the last handover. Nobody noticed? Two steps in Jamaica's lane.

GB heptathlete Louize Hazel: Awkward! If we keep celebrating... maybe they won't notice!

1557:
 THAT IS THAT
That was the 2013 World Athletics Championships.

It ends with two great Jamaican sprinters crossing the line first - fitting. After the negative headlines surrounding their sprinters in the last month or two, it's nice to see their team come away from Moscow on a high.

As for GB - well the target was six medals and they come away with six - for the moment.

What did you make of the team's performance and the championships as a whole?

#bbcathletics or text in 81111

Aimee Lewis, BBC Sport in Moscow
Great Britain's quartet
"The British quartet are celebrating as if they've won bronze regardless of the brouhaha going on behind the scenes. They hold a super-sized Union flag aloft and pose for the snappers before dancing and skipping down the track. Celebrate with enough conviction and the officials might doubt the replays. This could be the great hustle."

Denise Lewis, Two-time world silver medallist and BBC Sport expert
"If we get away with this, the 4x4 team, then they are very, very lucky indeed. Clearly, that exchange was not a good one. But you can't take anything away from the way that they ran. If they do get away with it then job well done."

Steve Cram, 1983 world champion and BBC Sport commentator
"That was fast, really quick from Jamaica. That's now eight World Championship gold medals for Usain Bolt."

Colin Jackson, Two-time world champion and BBC Sport expert
"Adam Gemili got a rocket start. This young man must be absolutely exhausted but he has had one amazing championships."

 GET INVOLVED
David Grice: Thought that second changeover was dodgy in real-time. Not sure we'll keep this bronze...

Kelly: That second change looked really dodgy for Britain.

1547:

Let us see what happens. The GB quartet are still parading around the track with the Union Flag aloft.

1541:
JAMAICA WIN 4X100M GOLD; GB BRONZE
Usain Bolt
Usain Bolt wins his eighth career world title with an awesome final leg. United States rival Justin Gatlin did not have enough pace to challenge him, with his team taking silver.

GB have the bronze for now, but a team could lodge a protest if they see a replay of the second changeover between Harry Aikines Aryeetey and James Ellington.

 GET INVOLVED
Matt Swain: Buzzing for the latest part of the Bolt story. Can the champ become a legend?

Claire Haines: Turns out I'm still a bit buzzing after #london2012 and have loved watching all the amazing athletes at #moscow2013

1539:
 MEN'S 4x100m FINAL
Right. This is it.

It looks like Adam Gemili, in lane six, will be on the lead-off leg for Great Britain. Harry Aikines Aryeetey is on the second leg followed by James Ellington and Dwain Chambers.

Usain Bolt and his Jamaica team are the favourites.

Aimee Lewis, BBC Sport in Moscow
"The men's 1500m medal ceremony has been slightly delayed so the crowd are amusing themselves by taking part in a Mexican Wave. Jamaican flags, Russian flags, British flags bobbing up and down with everyone determined to bid a fond farewell to these championships. Empty seats? Where? When?"

GB 4x400m runner Emily Diamond: Great work! Fourth in the world is craaazy!

1532:
 GB 4x100m APPEAL
GB's 4x100m women lodge an appeal - I'm guessing regarding one of the United States changeovers. If successful, they will win a medal.

 GET INVOLVED
Nul Points: Unheralded fourth place for GB youngsters in women's 4x100m. Arguably most impressive GB performance of the week.

Clash: GB women's 4x100m are my new favourite team.

GB 800m runner Lynsey Sharp: The relay girls did so good!

1529:
 FRASER-PRYCE WINS THIRD GOLD
I forgot to mention that Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce finished about 20 metres ahead of the rest on that final leg of the 4x100m final. And with that, she wins her third gold of the championships. A tremendous effort from the 27-year-old who has now won five world titles.

1524:
 MEN'S 4x100m FINAL
The final event of these championships is coming up at 1540 BST - wipe away those tears you big softies.

It looks like Usain Bolt and Nickel Ashmeade, fifth in the 100m final, will come into the Jamaica squad.

It's likely to be Bolt v United States' Justin Gatlin on the final leg - bar any errors on the way round.

Great Britain can a great opportunity to win a medal, with 200m finalist Adam Gemili set to come back into the team. I reckon he will run the third leg with Chambers on the final leg.

1517:

Andrew Cotter, BBC Sport athletics commentator
Great Britain's 4x100m team
"Great Britain did so well for three-quarters of the way round, and were looking so good for a medal, but couldn't quite keep pace."

 GET INVOLVED
Mark Fenson: British girls so unlucky in the relay. Last leg just wasn't strong enough. Looks good for the future though.

Sam: You're gutted if you were on the GB last leg there...

Colin Jackson, Two-time world champion and BBC Sport expert
"A new championship record. A good piece of running by the Jamaican team, but Britain, coming into that final exchange, they were there or there abouts. They were in with a medal shout. But sadly, pure leg speed was lacking. Good experience for a young team though."

1512:
 JAMAICA WIN WOMEN'S 4X100M
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce
Cripes! It all went wrong for the United States on the second changeover. Really wrong. They still won bronze though. But how?

Well, sadly Hayley Jones who looked good to lead Great Britain to silver just didn't have the pace on the final leg and was run down by France, who took silver and the US, who made up the yards, to land bronze. Heartbreak for GB.

1508:
 WOMEN'S 4x100m RELAY
It's relay time. The penultimate event of these championships is about to get under way. Anything can happen in these races - baton drops, running out of lanes, fights (perhaps not).

GB are in with a shout of a medal. US v Jamaica for the gold you would have thought.

1505:

Tiffany Porter, who won bronze in the 100m hurdles, on BBC One: "Looking back at it there are definitely things I need to work on. My finish still needs some improvement, gut at the end of the day I'm really happy with yesterday's performance. I'm really pleased."

Tiffany Porter's medal certificate

Paul Dickenson, BBC Sport athletics commentator
"Teddy Tamgho fulfils his destiny as an 18m jumper. That is the third longest in history! What a finish to the competition. But Jonathan Edwards still has the world record and still has the championship record too."

1458:
TAMGHO LEAPS OVER 18M AND WINS GOLD
He's done it. He's done it. After going close on two occasions, France's Teddy Tamgho flies out to 18.04m - the third longest triple jump in history. I told you this competition would be special.

Cuba's Pedro Pablo Pichardo (17.68m) finishes in silver position after an epic battle with Tamgho, while Will Claye (17.52m) of the United States wins bronze. Olympic and 2011 world champion Christian Taylor (17.20m) never found his rhythm and finishes in fourth.

1454:
 SUM WINS WOMEN'S 800M
Whenever you build something up as something, something else happens.

As BBC commentator Steve Cram said: "That's a big shock".

United States' Alysia Johnson Montano led from start to 50m from the end. At the bell, she had a 10-metre lead, but the home straight she was clearly tying up. Kenya's Eunice Jepkoech Sum, who kept closest to her, made her move in the final 100m to take gold ahead of Russia's Mariya Savinova and Brenda Martinez of the United States.

1447:
 WOMEN'S 800m FINAL
We've got the last non-baton related track final of these championships coming up aka women's 800m final.

It promises to be a cracker - US v Russia. I can hear Survivor's Burning Heart (from Rocky IV) playing in my head.

In the Russia corner: Olympic champion Mariya Savinova and bronze medallist Ekaterina Poistogova

In the US corner: Fastest qualifier Alysia Johnson Montano and second fastest qualifier Brenda Martinez.

Paula Radcliffe, Marathon world record holder and BBC Sport expert
"O'Hare's reaction shows a good attitude. It means he wants to come back next time and improve, and he's right in his assessment - he just didn't have it in his legs. When the pace picked up he just wasn't able to go with it. And he's right, that makes it a long last lap."

1440:
 MEN'S TRIPLE JUMP FINAL
Two red flags for Teddy Tamgho. The first invalid effort was just under 18m while the second seemed to be around the mark of Briton Jonathan Edwards' 1995 world record of 18.29m. Unlucky for the Frenchman. But Tamgho then leaps to 17.68m to take the lead. It's the same distance as Pedro Pablo Pichardo's best, but the Frenchman has a better second effort than the Cuban.

1439:

Asbel Kiprop wins the 1500m
1500m champion Asbel Kiprop on BBC One: "I'm happy to have managed to have defended the title I won two years ago. It gives me confidence to go ahead. The competition went perfectly, as I wanted, and things went as planned. This was the priority of my season. I'm happy that I managed to deliver and to get a win here tonight. I'm looking forward to finishing the season and starting the next season with confidence."

1439:

Chris O'Hare on BBC One, who finished last in the 1500m: "It's been a hell of a journey. I just wish I didn't have to do this interview - I just didn't have it today. I tried to step it up a gear but I just didn't have it. My legs were just tired, fatigued. I fought for it for ages and it just wouldn't come.

"But I don't want to act like a spoiled brat. I'll have to go back to where I'm going to pick my confidence up from here - that was disappointing. But in terms of development, having a final was probably the best thing for me. I'll go home, work hard, and make sure it never happens again."

Aimee Lewis, BBC Sport in Moscow
"The Ukrainians are their usual jolly selves today. The ninth day, the final day, and they're still wearing their yellow and blue uniforms. I wonder if they've brought enough supplies for a fresh T-shirt for every session or whether this is their Glastonbury and they've been wearing the same tops for the entirety of the championships. Only one way to find out. Breathe in..."

1428:
 KIPROP WINS MEN'S 1500M
Asbel Kiprop is in a different class, he eases away from the others in the last 60m to win the race and defend his title. Daegu bronze medallist Matt Centrowitz of the United States took a great silver, while South Africa's Johan Cronje, sneaked down the inside to pinch bronze. Briton Chris O'Hare finished last.

The time was slow - 3.36-ish.

1427:
 MEN'S 1500m FINAL
Chris O'Hare is being left behind. The race is on at the bell. Asbel Kiprop has led the pack to fellow Kenyan Nixon Chepseba.

1426:
 MEN'S 1500m FINAL
Kenya's Nixon Chepseba has a 10m-lead at 800m. What's happening there?

1425:
 MEN'S 1500m FINAL
Briton O'Hare is sitting at the back - it's not particularly fast with one lap gone but they are stretched.

1424:
 MEN'S 1500m FINAL
Chris O'Hare - an apt surname considering the pace he showed in the home straight during his heat. The Briton is in this final which contains three very good Kenyans - defending champion Asbel Kiprop, silver medallist Silas Kiplagat and fastest qualifier Nixon Chepseba. Watch out for United States athlete Matt Centrowitz.

1420:
 WOMEN'S JAVELIN FINAL
It's gold for Germany's Christina Obergfoll, whose earlier throw of 69.05m proved enough. Australia's Kim Mickle takes silver with a PB 66.60m, while reigning champion Maria Abakumova (65.09m) of Russia has to settle for bronze.

GB sprinter Nigel Levine: This triple jump looks like war!

GM long jump Olympic champion Greg Rutherford: Sounds like the TJ is heating up!

1414:
 MEN'S TRIPLE JUMP FINAL
Cuba's Pedro Pablo Pichardo
Meanwhile, back at the pit. Cuba's Pedro Pablo Pichardo is back in the lead - he's leapt to 17.68m. France's Teddy Tamgho is down to silver position with 17.65m, while USA's Will Claye is in bronze spot with 17.33m.

1410:
 WOMEN'S 100m HURDLES CEREMONY
Briton Tiffany Porter has just received her bronze medal. Australia's Sally Pearson is given silver, while Brianna Rollins, who turned 22 today, is handed her gold. Cue the Star-Spangled Banner...

1410:
 MEN'S 4x100m HEATS
Well, well. Germany win the fourth heat and Canada finish second. I won't use efficient to describe the Germany baton changes - that would be cheap. However...

 #BBCATHLETICS HIGHS AND LOWS
Feysal: Had this sensational & new feeling when Mohammed Aman crossed that finish line 1st gold in 800m for #Ethiopia in major champs

Oputeh Kingsley: Blessing Okagbare getting on the podium

Michael Johnson, Eight-time world champion and BBC Sport expert
"The Great Britain team acquitted themselves very well there. They've got to get the baton around the track so you have to rely on your foot speed."

Denise Lewis, Two-time world silver medallist and BBC Sport expert
Dwain Chambers
"The most important thing for our guys is making sure their changeover hand is still. You need to be disciplined, go with your check marks, don't make any adjustments and don't panic with your changeovers."

Aimee Lewis, BBC Sport in Moscow
"Baton to hand, baton to hand, repeat a further two times and you have the recipe to a successful relay. Sometimes, though - actually, almost always - Britain's relay hopes collapse like an overcooked souffle - but not in Moscow, it's as if they turned up with something they'd prepared earlier so trouble-free were the exchanges. High fives from Chambers and co at the finishing line and big cuddly bear hugs, too, before the quartet point and wave to the posse of British fans waving Union flags."

1403:
 MEN'S 4x100m HEATS
USA are through to the final as winners of their heat (38.06 seconds), but they did their best to make a mess of it with the final changeover. Luckily Justin Gatlin was on the final leg and made up the ground lost on the changeover. Japan were second.

 GET INVOLVED
BigBoatsTR: Well done Team GB!

Dusky: Brilliant baton changes by the British quartet. But it's only the first round. Please do this again in the final...

1358:
 MEN'S TRIPLE JUMP FINAL
Early days in the men's triple jump final, but France's Teddy Tamgho has flung himself out to a season's best of 17.65m. Huge. Cuba's Pedro Pablo Pichardo is second with 17.38m

GB heptathlete Louise Hazel: Yes boys, relay baton round safely! Secured a nice lane for the final too!

British table tennis player Darius Knight: Gwarn James Ellington! Gwarn!

Steve Cram, 1983 world champion and BBC Sport commentator
"That was full of trapdoors to fall into, being in lane one with Jamaica beside you, but it was very, very good. We beat the Jamaican team!"

Colin Jackson, Two-time world champion and BBC Sport expert
"Safe changes all over from team GB there. They know they will have to go a little bit quicker in the final, but this is about them building their confidence and gelling as a team. They will come off this track and will think to themselves that was a solid performance. To beat the Jamaicans is pretty good."

1351:
GB MEN THROUGH TO 4x100m FINAL
They were in the awkward lane 1, but that was nice and safe from the GB quartet of Richard Kilty, Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, James Ellington and Dwain Chambers. The time? 38.12 seconds - a season's best. Jamaica were second.

1350:

Great Britain's James Ellington on BBC One: "We will do well and if we get the baton round, which we will, then we will get a medal."

1350:
 MEN'S 4x100m HEATS
GB and Jamaica are in heat one. BBC commentator Steve Cram has just said that Jamaica's double-sprint champion Usain Bolt, who is not in this heat, might not even be in the final. Just rumours at the moment.

1346:
 MEN'S TRIPLE JUMP FINAL
We might see a "big one" today. France's Teddy Tamgho, who has suffered from an injury-hit last two years, jump the furthest in qualifying - 17.41. United States Olympic champion Christian Taylor hop, skip and jumped to 17.36m. Watch out for Cuba's Pedro Pablo Pichardo, who has the best mark of the year - 17.69m.

1341:
 #BBCATHLETICS HIGHS AND LOWS
Chris Eccles: Watching Christine O execute the perfect 400m, a great example to any young athlete

Jade Kimberley: Adam Gemili 19.98 and Chrissy Ohuruogu gold both almost made me wee myself! Present and future of the sport.

1336:
 WOMEN'S JAVELIN FINAL
Christina Obergfoll
Pick that one out! Germany's Christina Obergfoll, second in the year's rankings, is in the lead after launching her spear out to 69.05m. Australia's Kimberley Mickle has broken her previous PB with a throw of 66.25m to lie in silver spot. Russian favourite, Maria Abakumova, is in bronze spot after two rounds.

1332:
 WOMEN'S 4x100m HEATS
USA and Brazil are one and two in the final heat. Russia finish third, but I reckon are through as one of the fastest losers.

1330:
 WOMEN'S 4x100m HEATS UPDATE
The Bahamas, who won the last heat, have been disqualified for running out of their lane. Blimey! USA up next in the final heat.

Steve Cram, 1983 world champion and BBC Sport commentator
"What a messy heat that was. Did we get the baton round? It wasn't good at all, and there's a discussion happening on the back straight. But Britain are through safely."

GM heptathlete Louise Hazel: Sick changeover Ashleigh into Annabelle - well done girls!

1324:
 WOMEN'S 4x100m HEATS
Hayley Jones
It certainly was not the smoothest set of baton changes you will have seen in a relay race.

The first changeover between Great Britain's Dina Asher Smith and Ashleigh Nelson was clean but looked mistimed. Nevertheless, GB are into the final after finishing second (42.75 seconds) behind the Bahamas (42.70).

Relay Fail Of The Day award is currently in the hands of the much-fancied Ukraine quartet who made a shocking change on the final leg. They are out.

1324:
 WOMEN'S 4x100m HEATS
There is a lot that happened in this race, bear with me...

1321:
 WOMEN'S 4x100m HEATS
I've been told that GB and NI have decided to stick with the team that starred at the Anniversary Games - minus Anyika Onuora, who is injured. Let's see if not including Asha Philip and Jodie Williams pays off.

 #BBCATHLETICS HIGHS AND LOWS
Elaine Dove: Gotta be the Mo Farah double gold! What a star.

Claire Haines: Definitely Christine stealing the win in the 400m!

James: Adam Gemili's 19.98 200m! Was jumping around the living room like crazy when he did that!

Christine Ohuruogu photo finish

Colin Jackson, Two-time world champion and BBC Sport expert
"Relays are about getting that baton round as fast as you can - don't worry about the leg speed so much."

1317:
 WOMEN'S 4x100m HEATS
Winners Jamaica (41.87 seconds) and second-placed France (42.25) are through to the final which is at 1510 BST. Jamaica's sprint-double champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is likely to come into the quartet. Nigeria's team made a mess of the second leg.

GB 800m runner Marilyn Okoro: Good luck GB 4x100 men and women!

1311:
 WOMEN'S 4x100m HEATS
Jamaica, silver medallists at the Olympics, are in the first of three heats (1315 BST). They are without 2011 200m champion Veronica Campbell-Brown and Sherone Simpson, who both tested positive for doping prior to the championships.

GB are in the second heat and the United States in the final race.

1306:
 WOMEN'S JAVELIN FINAL
It's under way.

As mentioned, Maria Abakumova is only one of two athletes to have thrown over 70m. The other is German Christina Obergfoll. They will be favourites for gold, although Australia's Kimberley Mickle and South Africa's Sunette Viljoen, will also be in the hunt for the title.

 DAY NINE HIGHLIGHTS
Mark King of Level 42Singer/bassist Mark King of Level 42
1300 BST: Women's javelin final - Remember the Level 42 (see above pic of singer Mark King) song Running in the Family? No? Disgraceful. Anyway, that is the song that might be played in the Tarabin-Abakumova household, because javelin throwing... runs in the family. Russia's Dmitri Tarabin won bronze on Saturday and now wife Mariya Abakumova, the reigning champion, goes for gold today.

1315: Women's 4x100m heats.

1345: Men's triple jump final - Cuba's Pedro Pichardo, who has posted the world lead jump of 17.69m this year, is in this. But it's expected to be a duel between Frenchman Teddy Tamgho, back to near his best after injury, and United States' Olympic champion Christian Taylor.

1350: Men's 4x100m heats

1425: Men's 1500m final - Briton Chris O'Hare is in the field containing Kenyan super trio Asbel Kiprop, who is the defending champion, Daegu silver medallist Silas Kiplagat and Nixon Chepseba - the fastest qualifier.

1450: Women's 800m final - This could be quite fast. United States pair Alysia Johnson Montano and Brenda Martinez set the fastest times in the semis. Russia's Olympic champion Mariya Savinova and bronze medallist Ekaterina Poistogova also line-up.

1510: Women's 4x100m final.

1540: Men's 4x100m final.

1249:

"So when are these relays? What else is happening today? When can I leave the sofa?" Patience, patience...

Michael Johnson, Eight-time world champion and BBC Sport expert
"I loved the relays - it's at the end, it's fun, and it's the chance to run as a part of a team. And the US are going to be strong, so we should have a good relay today."

Denise Lewis, Two-time world silver medallist and BBC Sport expert
"We all secretly love relays - they're so exciting. But Bolt in particular, going potentially for a third gold medal, this is an opportunity for him to have fun as the senior guy in his team."

1243:
 BBC COVERAGE
No doubt Gabby Logan and her team will go out with a bang today - BBC coverage has started on BBC One.

You can watch the running, jumping and throwing on your desktop, laptop, tablet, smartphone and via the BBC Sport app.

There will also be updates on BBC Radio 5 live - Mike Costello commentating on the relays? Sounds good already.

1239:
 GB WOMEN'S 4x100m LATEST
Asha Philip or Jodie Williams, semi-finalists in the 100m and 200m respectively, are not in the British quartet for their 4x100m heat. Anyika Onuora sustained an injury in the 200m and is unable to compete.

The quartet: Dina Asher Smith, Ashleigh Nelson, Annabelle Lewis, Hayley Jones - three of whom, helped GB to victory at the Anniversary Games.

1238:
 GB MEN'S 4x100m UPDATE
Some of you might know this already, but Great Britain's 100m-finalist James Dasaolu will not compete in the men's 4x100m.

The 25-year-old, who has run 9.91 seconds this year, has been unable to take part in relay practice because of the hip problem that interrupted his build-up to the championships.

This is the quartet for the heat - Richard Kilty, Harry Aikines Aryeetey, James Ellington, Dwain Chambers. Adam Gemili, who came fifth in the 200m, is expected to replace Kilty, if GB reach the final.
